Sometimes, simple quality tastes the best. The Glow is a tribute to ‘Golden Glow’, a popular early-century Bay Area Lager from Golden West Brewery in Oakland. We use floor-malted German Bohemian Pilsner malt with a steadying backdrop of Northern Brewer hops and a touch of Melanoiden malt, a malt used for a fuller moth feel and bisquity flavors. Melanoiden is often used in Dark and Red beers, but the handful we use imparts a visible glow to our simple pilsner.

MALT: Bohemian Pilsner, Melanoiden
HOPS: Northern Brewer
YEAST: Old California Lager

SOUNDBITE: A light-bodied, smoother lager with hints of honey and grain.

PAIRINGS: A very simple, refreshing, light beer. Light foods with nuanced flavors will not be overpowered by this pilsner.

California Common Lagers were invented in the Bay Area in an era following the Gold Rush. German brewers cultivated a brewer’s yeast that ferments in the region’s moderate temperatures. Some breweries call this Steam beer. Linden Street’s Common Lager is a robust, golden, malt-forward yet sturdily-hopped lager. Four German malts give it a range of flavor combined into a smooth mouthfeel.

MALT: Pale, Munich, Vienna, Carahell
HOPS: Northern Brewer
YEAST: Old California Lager

SOUNDBITE: A robust golden lager with a balanced hop presence.

PAIRINGS: This robust golden beer is versatile, but could overpower light and nuanced flavors. Chicken, seafood, pork, and spicy food. Whiskey and tequila.

Bitters aren’t bitter! ‘Bitter’ is essentially the English word for ‘Beer.’ Our Extra Special Bitter is primarily a classic recipe: Maris Otter English Malt, a bit of hops, and English Ale yeast. We throw in a little terrified wheat for a hint of toast and better head retention. It’s a non-classic, classic English Ale. Our ESB is a light, bodied, malt-forward amber ale.

MALT: Maris Otter, Crystal, Wheat, Munich
HOPS: Northern Brewer
YEAST: English Ale

SOUNDBITE: A light-bodied amber ale with hints of toast and caramel.

PAIRINGS: A very versatile beer. While it will not match heavy foods, it can be a refreshing pairing. Anything caramelized or with a touch of natural sweetness. Charcuterie, chicken, and pork are perfect. All cheeses and nuts.

Dark can be light. Our Black Lager is essentially a light-bodied pale lager with just enough black malts to make it a black beer with roasted flavors. We leave a touch of sweetness and just enough hops to balance it all.

MALT: Pale, Carafa, Caramunich, Munich
HOPS: Northern Brewer
YEAST: Old California Lager

SOUNDBITE: A light-bodied black lager with roasted flavors and a hint of sweetness.

PAIRINGS: Beef, chicken, pork, or vegetables that are roasted or grilled. Anything charred. Whiskey or any other barrel-aged spirit.

HOPS: Apollo, Summit
YEAST: English Ale

SOUNDBITE: A pale ale with hoppy flavors and aromas, a hint of spice, with minimal lingering bitterness.
